NOVEMBER NEWS

Welcome to November! We had a wonderful Halloween party last Friday. Thank you to all the parents who donated items and/or helped us on the day of the party. We also appreciate everyone who assisted us at the campfire.

This week we will conclude our study of "Community Helpers". Our final community helper, a doctor, will visit our class on Tuesday. Don't forget that this Friday is our Community Helpers' Day in Pre-K. Please assist your child in remembering to complete the homework assignment that we sent home last week. Your child should return his/her completed homework to school by this Friday.

Our next topic of study will be "Colors". We will introduce this topic on Wednesday with a story called, "The Crayon Box That Talked". We have many activities planned for the children to experiment and make discoveries with mixing colors. We will discuss primary and secondary colors; experiment with how to make colors lighter and darker; visit the Lower School Art teacher, Mr. Cicetti; and celebrate this topic of study with a special Color Day on Friday December 5th. More information about this event will be explained at a later date.

Other important dates and activities this month include:
*Wednesday November 19th--School Pictures Retake Day
*Friday November 21st--Pre-K Music Program at 8:30 in the theater
*Information on this program was sent home in your child's blue folder. This is still a
regular school day for your child. Families are invited and encouraged to attend this
program.
*Wednesday 11/26, Thursday 11/27, Friday 11/28--Thanksgiving Break

Throughout the month of November, Pre-K children are encouraged to bring in toys, treats, food for dogs and cats that will be donated to an animal shelter. This is our community service project for this month. A note explaining this activity was sent home in your child's folder.

On Wednesday November 19th, new teachers will be taking over the duties of morning drop-off and playground duty. Mrs. Turnock (Kindergarten teacher) will be outside beginning at 7:30 to assist children in getting out of their cars when they arrive at school. Mrs. Korda (Kindergarten teacher) and Ms. Pluth (Lower School Music teacher) will supervise children on the playground prior to the start of school. We will have these 3 teachers visit the Pre-K room prior to the start of their duties so the Pre-K children can meet them.

As the cold weather becomes more consistent, please remember to send your child to school with gloves, mittens, hats, etc. As always, thank you for your continued support from home in your child's educational journey in Pre-K!
