SECOND STEP LESSON

Today we began a new unit of Second Step lessons that will explore how to decrease impulsive and/or aggressive behaviors through learning and practicing a problem-solving strategy, combined with skill training. Mrs. Andrews introduced "Impulsive Puppy" and "Slow-down Snail" to introduce today's lesson. After discussing what impulsive means (after observing Impulsive Puppy's behavior), Slow-down Snail was teaching Impulsive Puppy a strategy to assist him in being less impulsive. The strategy is....."Slow down, Stop, and Think." We will be encouraging the students to apply and use this strategy in the classroom. Slow-down Snail and Impulsive Puppy will be visiting us for future Second Step lessons.
