Dear Parents--Each week we are doing a variety of handwriting/fine motor activities to prepare the children for the formal handwriting program they will do next year in Kindergarten. Today, we did an activity to practice writing the letter "K", which can be a difficult letter for some to form. After some initial instruction and demonstrating by the teacher, each child was given a paper (see photo above) and had the opportunity to practice tracing the letter "K". At the bottom of the page, children wrote the letter "K" on their own. When writing a "K", we stress to the children that you start at the top and go to the bottom. Next, you go back to the top and, without lifting your pencil/marker, you move down and then to the bottom to make the second part of the "K".
