JANUARY NEWS

Welcome Back and Happy New Year! We hope you have had an enjoyable holiday season with your family and friends. Here are some of the new skills and concepts we will introduce and begin working on in Pre-K as we embark on the second half of the school year.

~continuing with our study of the consonant letter sounds.

~formal handwriting lessons and practice with number writing.

~recognizing last names in print.

~writing our first and last names correctly (first letter upper case
and the rest of the letters in lower case).

~practicing counting backwards through calendar activities.

Throughout the month of January we will be doing many science experiments to explore our study of "The Five Senses". In February, we will "blast off" into a study of "Outer Space".

Valentine's Day Party
Friday February 13th @ 10:30
As part of our Valentine's Day celebration, classmates will exchange valentine cards. There are 22 children total in our morning Pre-K class. To make distributing the valentines easier, we ask that the children sign their own name each of their valentine cards but PLEASE DO NOT HAVE CHILDREN PUT ANY CLASSMATES' NAMES ON THE ENVELOPES.
"The Bear Case"
Friday February 20th
Please mark your calendars for this very special event as the morning Pre-K class takes the stage for the play, "The Bear Case". As we assign parts and begin rehearsing for the play, we will send home any pertinent information in folders about your child's part and any costume and/or prop needs.

We also wanted to make you aware that during the month of January, the Pre-K teachers will be involved with Admissions screening for next year's applicants for Pre-K and Kindergarten. During screening days, at least 1 of the 3 Pre-K teachers along with a substitute teacher will be with the morning Pre-K class, while the other 2 Pre-K teachers are involved with the screening.
