ERIC CARLE ARTISTS!!

Today, we had the pleasure of visiting Mr. Cicetti's room. We watched a video about the artist, Eric Carle. He has written and illustrated many children's books, one of which is The Very Hungry Caterpillar. In the video, we watched Eric Carle at work in his own studio, using a collage technique. He creates his own hand painted papers, which he then cuts and layers to create beautiful pictures. Since we are starting our Butterfly Unit, we are going to create a collage masterpiece based on Eric Carle's book, The Very Hungry Caterpillar. After Mr. Cicetti demonstrated how to create texture and interest in our painting, we each had a chance to paint our own papers. It was a very fun and interesting day in Mr. Cicetti's art room. We cannot wait to visit Mr. Cicetti again to work on cutting our papers and putting them together to make our final project!!
