HAPPY EARTH DAY!

Today we read the story, "Our Class is Going Green", which is a book written and illustrated by a kindergarten class from a school in Oklahoma. Prior to reading the story, we had a class discussion about "Earth Day" and what it means. WOW!! We were so impressed with the contributions the children made. Here were some of their thoughts and ideas...

*"We can keep the Earth clean and healthy by recycling."
*"We can ride bikes instead of driving cars."
*"Don't litter or put trash in lakes."
*"It's always good to recycle."
*"Don't waste food--it's healthy for you."
*"We use cloth napkins at our house instead of paper napkins."
*"We use glasses instead of paper cups at our house."
*"We should make a scrap box in our classroom for paper that is still good to use."
*"We need to store petroleum which is a fossil fuel so we don't run out."

To do our part for the Earth, we are going to start a recycling program in our classroom!
