OCTOBER NEWS!

Dear Morning Pre-K Parents--

It's only October 10th, and already this month has been busy for us in Pre-K! Today's Pajama Party was a big hit--especially the yummy pancakes! Thanks so much to all the parents who participated in making our pancake snack, either donating the food items or helping to make and cook the pancakes. Here are some highlights and reminders for the remainder of October...

Friday 10/24--Parent/Teacher Conferences (NO SCHOOL)

WEEK OF OCTOBER 27TH
Tuesday 10/28--Pilot Visit to Pre-K (Steve Skilken)
Thursday 10/30--Campfire Stories with 2nd grade buddies (10:00-10:45)
Friday 10/31--Halloween Party (10:30-11:30)

BOOK FAIR
The Book Fair is held in the Lower School Multi-Purpose Room. We have discovered, from past experience, that taking the Pre-K class to "browse" at the Book Fair is overwhelming and confusing for the children. It works better if parents set aside a time outside of class time to accompany their Pre-K child to the Book Fair to look at, choose, and purchase books. A parent volunteer from the Book Fair will visit the Pre-K class to explain the Book Fair and share a sample collection of books that are for sale.

PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES
The day before your scheduled conference, we will send home a copy of your child's progress report (in his/her blue folder) for you to read prior to your conference. We will then go over the progress report with you during the conference as well as address any questions and/or concerns you may have. There will be care available for children who need a place to stay while you are meeting with us.

CAMPFIRE WITH BUDDIES
Thursday October 30th (10:00-10:45) the Pre-K class will head into the woods with our 2nd grade buddies for stories around the campfire with the librarians. Children do not need to wear school dress code on that day. Please dress them in clothing appropriate for the weather (jeans, boots, coats, hats, raincoats, gloves, etc.)

HALLOWEEN PARTY
Children should come dressed to school in dress code on this day and bring their costumes with them. Around 10:15, we will begin assisting the children in changing into their costumes. At 10:30, we will then parade through the Lower School. We will return to the Pre-K classroom for our party. Parents are invited to join in the festivities!
